Photography

Photography is $75 an hour. At the end of each session, you’ll get a CD of all of the photos taken (usually 500 photos or more). There are no extra fees or hidden charges. You’re welcome to change clothes as many times as you’d like, include as many friends and family members as you’d like, bring in a motorcycle, get photographed with your cat, etc. The hour is yours.

Shoots can be booked for any time from noon to 8 pm, seven days a week.

We’ll be happy to give you a background color which complements your outfit. We don’t have the traditional props (bench, pillar, bookcase), but we’ll be happy to work with any props you bring.

We do not provide wardrobe for shoots, but we do know several good make-up artists, and we’d be happy to book one for your shoot. Most of them charge about $30 or $35 a face.

We also do body paint. There’s no extra fee for the paint, but you will need to book more than one hour, for application and drying time.

Note: Please be advised that JT Studios charges for the time by the hour. If you need additional preparation time, please include it in your scheduled appointment. Due to the fact that time is needed to clean and prep from previous appointments, we discourage early arrivals and late starts; please show up on time for your photo session to facilitate the scheduling of other clients.

Some helpful tips before you come in for your shoot:

  • Make sure that your hair is freshly done, or your haircut recent.

  • If you wear make-up but aren’t booking a make-up artist, please make sure that your make-up is heavier than usual. The lights flash brightly enough that everyday make-up gets washed out.

  • Make sure that you’re clean-shaven, either for your entire face or closely around the facial hair you intend to keep. Stubble shows up on-camera a lot more clearly than most people realize, so shave directly before your shoot.

  • Double-check your outfit. This is doubly and triply important if you are having graphics (business cards, flyers, calendars, album covers, etc.) created around your photos. Most graphic artists base colors around clothing, so don’t wear green unless you actually want a green album cover. Don’t wear clothing with words, numbers, or logos, unless those words, numbers, and logos are yours. These photographs should celebrate and promote you, not other companies, athletes, and clothing designers.

  • Practice in the mirror. When you step in front of the camera, you want to feel confident, and you’ll feel much more confident if you’re experienced and sure of your skill. Getting in front of the mirror and practicing your poses and expressions will give you a solid repertoire of looks. When you’re in front of the camera, you can’t see yourself, but if you’ve practiced, you’ll know how you look even without the mirror.

  • Get some sleep. Your disc will contain hundreds of unretouched pictures and you don't want bags under your eyes if you can help it.  If you are purchasing graphics, those pictures will be retouched, but that's only a few.

  • Musicians: consider taking photo shoots as part of your career. Think about how many times you've seen pictures of celebrity musicians in magazines, on album covers, and in advertisements. It's just part of the business for men and women in every genre. If you're not good at photo shoots, then it will help you to learn to do it well now if you want to be famous later.

The kinds of photography we do:

Fashion: We do fashion photography, whether you’re a model interested in capturing a high-fashion look or a designer in need of photos of your latest work.

Portfolio: We will help you to build a solid portfolio, capturing a variety of styles and looks.

Portrait: While we don’t encourage the stiff, formal poses of traditional portrait photography, we love taking photographs of everyday people. You don’t have to be a model to look your best in front of the camera, and we’ll capture the look and personality that make you you.

Babies, Children, and Family: No matter how old or young your children are, no matter how large or small your family is, we’re willing to take on the challenge!

Engagement and Bridal: We’ll photograph you together, separately, in or out of your wedding clothes, before or after the ceremony, with the bridal party or without it.

Maternity: We’ll help you to capture memories of this special time in your life.

Intimate: Whether you want to take private photographs for yourself, for a loved one, or with a loved one, we promise discretion. Which is why the examples in the portfolio are of professional models, not real customers.

Commercial: We do photography for businesses and corporations, for promotional material, sales material, and other needs.

Product: We photograph items, whether it’s a product you’re selling or something you want a record of.

Photography for Graphics: Whether you’re getting the graphics from JT Studios or elsewhere, you’ll need photographs of yourself for business cards, flyers, album covers, calendars, and other promotional material.

Everything Else: We’ll photograph your tattoos, your pets, your new manicure, your latest hairstyle, whatever you’d like. Just give us a call!

The kind of photography we don't do:

Event Photography, Weddings, on Location: JT Studios does not do event photography of any kind. We don't do shoots outside the studio at all. Sorry. But we do recommend a few other photographers who work in the field. Please check out the list under "Event photographers" in our links.
